Cairns Local Volunteer Coordination Hub
Below are a list of volunteer groups, however the Cairns Floods Volunteer Hub, is the central communication point for volunteer groups, located at the Community Hall, 85-93 Oleander Street, Holloways Beach. It is managed by a team of dedicated volunteers that co-ordinate donations and volunteer help needed for flood affected people around Cairns.
From the Volunteer Hub, they help those in need, accept donations and deliver to wherever the goods/services are needed around the region, including as far north as the communities in Bloomfield and surrounds. Volunteers are also coordinating closely with local agencies to ensure comprehensive assistance.
What to wear when cleaning
For those assisting in clean-up, whether through an organised group, or assisting a friend, for your health and safety, please ensure you wear suitable PPE wear (gloves, masks, closed-in shoes). If you have any sores or open woulds it is especially important to make sure these are protected and well covered up.
Parking Considerations for Volunteers
If you're volunteering and not from the local area, please park thoughtfully at any of the Community Hubs. Reserve closer parking spots for locals seeking assistance.
The Holloways Hub Volunteer Donation Crew are there to help all those affected by the North Queensland floods. Whether you're keen to lend a hand, donate food or items, OR for those in need of support, they are there to help. They work with those in the flood affected regions of Cairns and all the way up to Wujal Wujal, Bloomfield, Degarra, Ayton, and beyond.
The SES will conduct home Washouts. Please register your interest and the days you can be available.
