** The following disaster grant information has been collated from both the QLD Government & Federal Government websites

Following the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Jasper, both the Queensland State Government and the Australian Federal Government have rolled out financial assistance programs to support affected residents.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT GRANTS

A lump sum payment to help people seriously affected by Queensland Tropical Cyclone Jasper that started in December 2023

📍 CYCLONE JASPER DISASTER ASSIST
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) provides one-off financial assistance to eligible Australians adversely affected by Tropical Cyclone Jasper in Queensland.


The rate of AGDRP is $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child. Claims for this payment can be lodged with Services Australia for a period up to 6 months.



DISASTER ASSIST

📍 DISASTER RECOVERY PAYMENT
A lump sum payment to help people seriously affected by Queensland Tropical Cyclone Jasper that started in December 2023.

Temporary recovery centres have been set up to help you access payments and services in your community. You have until 17 June 2024 to make a claim

Support if you've lost income as a result of a declared natural disaster event.This is a payment from Services Australia that you can get for a maximum of 13 weeks

Below is an outline of the Queensland Government grants available.

EMERGENCY HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE

The Emergency Hardship Assistance grant is for help with essential needs, food, medication, clothing and temporary accommodation. This grant may be available if you:

live in or are stranded in the affected area
have experienced personal hardship; and
can’t meet your immediate essential needs.

GRANT AMOUNT:
$180 for individuals
up to $900 for families of 5 or more.

Emergency Hardship Assistance

ESSENTIAL SERVICES HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE

The Essential Services Hardship Assistance grant is for help with essential services such as, power, gas, water, and sewage.

This grant will be activated if you have experienced the loss of one or more essential services for more than five days.

This grant may be available if:

you live in the affected area
your utility service provider/s confirm that you lost these essential services.

GRANT AMOUNT:
$150 for individual
up to $750 for families of 5 or more.

ESSENTIAL SERVICES HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE GRANT

ESSENTIAL HOUSEHOLD CONTENTS GRANT

The Essential Household Contents Grant is to replace essential lost household contents, such as bed linen and white goods. This grant may be available if you:

live in the affected area
own the items that have been lost
own or rent the affected residence
are uninsured or unable to claim insurance
meet the income limits.

We will visit your home to assess the damage. We will need photographic evidence if items must be disposed of.

GRANT AMOUNT:
$1,765 for individuals
up to $5,300 for couples or families.

ESSENTIAL HOUSEHOLD CONTENTS GRANT

ESSENTIAL SERVICES SAFETY & RECONNECTION GRANT

Due to the impact of the Tropical Cyclone Jasper December 2023, the income testing limits for this grant have been increased.

The changes will help Queenslanders who might usually be ineligible for support under the current limits to reconnect and repair loss of services.

The Essential Services Safety and Reconnection grant is to help with for safety inspection and repairs to reconnect essential services e.g. gas, water, electricity and sewage. This grant may be available if you:live in the affected areahave had your essential services disconnectedown and live in the affected residenceare uninsured or unable to claim insurancemeet the income limits.We will visit your home to assess the damage.

GRANT AMOUNT:
Inspection costs—$200 for safety inspection for water, electricity, gas and sewage.$4,200 for repairs or replacement of these services.

ESSENTIAL SERVICES SAFETY & RECONNECTION GRANT

STRUCTURAL ASSISTANCE GRANT

The Essential Services Safety and Reconnection grant is to help The Structural Assistance Grant is to help with structural repairs or contribution towards replacement of dwelling. This grant may be available if:

you live in the affected area
you own and live in the affected residence
your home has become structurally unsafe to live in
are uninsured or unable to claim insurance
meet the income limits.

We will visit your home to assess the damage.

Grant amount:

Uninsured, low income, owner-occupiers may receive up to a maximum of $50,000 to help repair your home to make it safe, secure and habitable.
