Please don't change your travel plans! The coastal highway from Cairns to Port Douglas is currently closed while repairs are made, but Tropical North Queensland is most definitely open and ready for visitors and we are all eager to welcome you! Plus, you have options on how to get to Port Douglas - it's not very often you get the opportunity to enjoy a scenic boat transfer to Port Douglas and enjoy the views of the rainforest and mountains, instead of the ocean! 😀

Ferry, Road and Air Options
Our resourceful local industry has come up with alternative ways for visitors to reach Port Douglas.
You can now choose between a scenic ferry ride up the coast, or a road trip via Mareeba.
Alternatively, if you are feeling like really treating yourself, why not reach out to the guys n gals at Nautilus Aviation and see if they have availability for a helicopter trip to or from Port Douglas to Cairns.

** this is not the official website for the region - it was created to help those searching for options to get to Port Douglas and back to Cairns whilst the Great Barrier Reef highway from Cairns to Port Douglas is under repair due to the recent floods.
Reef Unlimited
Reef Unlimited will be operating a daily ferry services from Cairns to Port Douglas return, on an ongoing basis until further notice. Currently, as at 5 January, they are operating one service per day, however please refer to their booking page for any amended ferry times.
They did have a 9.30am and 3pm service, but currently it appears only one per day is running - their website will indicate what service is available.

Departure Times: Cairns Marlin Marina:
3pm (arrive 45 mins prior)
PORT DOUGLAS - CAIRNS
Port Douglas Crystalbrook Marina:
8am (arrive 45 min priort)
Cost: $50pp one way (children under 3 years travel free)
Quicksilver Reef Cruises
Quicksilver will be providing a short-term ferry transfer between Port Douglas and Cairns. As at 5 January, their departure times are as below, however these are subject to change so please refer to their booking site for updated schedule
CAIRNS - PORT DOUGLAS
Departure Times: Cairns Marlin Marina: 8am
Arriving: 9.30am
PORT DOUGLAS - CAIRNS
Port Douglas Crystalbrook Marina: 4.15pm
Arriving: 6.00pm
Cost: $50pp one way (children under 3 years travel free)

Are offering ground transfers in Cairns to meet the ferry and landing at the airport, as well as transfers to the passenger's resort once they arrive at the Marina in Port Douglas.
